I am literally writing this blog while I procrastinate my sleep shamelessly 😑 I don’t know what on Earth makes me want to just delay my sleep. I can have a sound sleep but I am happily enjoying this procrastination and sort of controlling my night!
Welcome to the new problem we, the virtual inhabitants are facing. Until recently, I wasn’t even aware that there is a separate phrase and a fan base for it 😝! I thought this was an act I secretly did and others were disciplined enough to not skip their sleep. But hey, I am NOT alone.😁
So what exactly is ‘Revenge bed time procrastination’?Let me explain 🤥
In a typical scenario, we are all occupied with a lot of work in the day time, be it work from home, household chores, cooking, fighting, talking on the phone, napping, reading, studying, watching TV, lazying around, forcefully following lockdown norms, etc.
Now, we miss out on some thing called as ‘me-time’. What does this me time mean in today’s world? Well, if I ask, what is your idea of an easy ‘me-time’, what would you choose to do? Think, and now let us decide if our thoughts match.
Please don’t say you would read a book, do a at-home-spa activity, meditate, these are all included in your activities for the ‘day’.
Something you would do while laying on your bed. Any thoughts?
Ok fine, I will not bore you further, the answer is just reach out to your mobile phone 🙄 The easiest, simplest, readily available entertainment device. Or our laptops, if you are engrossed into some web series.In short, time for some screen time.🔆
You have so many things to do when it comes to this kind of ‘me-time’. You control your night time and skip sleep and make up for all the time you could not spend on it.A little bit of FOMO is also included in this, I believe.
A person like me would want to go through every notification on my phone! I want everything clear and read and seen and responded to.
I want all the news, all the stories, statuses checked. I need to go through my YouTube as well, in addition to my half watched web serieses! I want to be updated on what the shopping Apps show and other miscellaneous Apps have for the day. All this, despite the fact that I have switched off all my notifications.
Can you beat the intensity?
This cannot be done in the day time whole heartedly and with undisturbed dedication. So we use up the quiet night time and procrastinate, sacrifice, for what? 😖
It is an unhealthy practice and can lead to so many health issues, especially mental health, but honestly who cares?
Well, this is an alarming situation and we need to work on it and just not control our night time.
Anyway, I will end here cz I need to go and finish my episode, oops!
No wonder, sleeping is a luxury now.
Fun fact: I procrastinated writing this article by 3 months!
